Today I have been hit with inspiration and motivation. That's great right? Now will I start blogging again? Well, I'll try. Just like I've said many times before. Except what do I write about? I mean surely something has happened in the almost 2 months that I disappeared from the blogging world.

Maybe I could write about how we put our nifty little hammock back up for the summer. And how relaxing it is.
Or maybe I should share that we got new chickens. That, despite how mean they are, they are desperately cute and adorable. (I know, they're chickens. Sue me.) And how the roosters are going through "poultry puberty" and have cracked "cock-a-doodle-doos". And I couldn't forget to mention that they skip the "doodle" part.
Perhaps I should tell you that Connor's team won their first baseball game this year (2-0).
Or what about turkey season? Maybe how I've gotten one bird this year that was a bit chunky. But very attractive despite his rolls of fat.
I could maybe post that we FINALLY got Sadie fixed. And she's still the cutest doggie in the world. That her back "injury" is said to be a trauma scar.
What about my ACT? I could tell you about how I got a 24 even though I went to Frontier City the night before and stayed out until midnight.
Or what about my new obsession with walking. I mean not like I didn't know what it was before, but how I like to walk mile after mile after mile at a time, just because.
Then there's the fact that we are getting new show lambs soon.
And I too am getting a new camera. But maybe that's not a good idea, because then everyone who reads Olivea's blog will know that its a "monkey see, monkey do" situation. (And because I liked Susie's)
Or what about mentioning that we only have 17 days left of school!!!

I'm gonna have to think about this for a while. Maybe next time I check in, I'll know what to post. But for now....I'M BACK!!

As usual, this post is a tad late, but at least I'm attempting right?!

We've had a little snow/sleet/ice storm this week and we haven't been in school at all. On Tuesday morning it was SUPER slick out and the mail was running late. When the mail got here (finally), he got stuck. The neighbors were also coming in at the same and THEY both got stuck. Now we have 3 different vehicles stuck in front of the house. Dad goes out and pulls the mailman up the hill. In the mean time, another neighbor comes along and sees all the chaos. He helps gets one of the remaining 2 vehicles up the "cul de sac". Now we're just left with one car. This is where it gets weird. Instead of pulling her car out, they push it out. So now we have 2 4-wheel drive trucks...just sitting there. It takes about 20 minutes, but they finally get her out. And during this time...we're taking pictures.

It's Still a Snow Day!

So we haven't had school since Monday, actually we didn't really even have school then. But today school's back in ... and ... we didn't go. Nana and Papa, Kevin, Chelsea, and Josh came down yesterday and we can't leave 'em here while we go to school! I'm sure by Monday, we'll be ready to go back but until then ... we still haven't seen civilization. Not that those in Little Axe are civilized.

"Yeah, um, we can't get out of the driveway, so we won't be at school today!"

I'm 17 now, and no I ain't gonna start driving, thank you. Actually had a pretty fun day. Thursday night daddy took me with him spotlighting (it was perfectly legal) and I had a deer cleaning birthday party. 29 deer to be exact. Who wouldn't want a party like that? Of course I didn't know half of the people there....but it don't matter. At midnight it was "Happy Birthday! .... Plug your ears. Okay, now go out there and drag it to the fence." Alrighty!! Then it was back to the barn and guttin' time. My favorite part. It was pretty darn excitin'. We didn't get back home till 3:30ish so....NO SCHOOL!

First Post of '09!!

So its here....eek! Not sure any of us were ready for a new year but it didn't wait. 2008 was a pretty busy year for us and I'm sure 2009 won't be any better.

Anyways, last night we had a small "bringin' in the New Year" bash which got even smaller as the night went on. I guess you loose the ability to stay up that late if you don't keep practicing! Chris and Kait were the only ones that stay all night after meeting. We ate, drank hot chocolate, played Apples to Apples, ate, played Balderdash, laid around, ate, played Pass the Ace, played Cranium, ate, went a little crazy, ate, and then screamed, threw and banged on anything that would make noise, set off the car alarms, ate, and went to bed. But....we all made it till midnight without falling asleep, even though we got pretty close. Here's some pics:

4. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $150,000 combines and hay balers that are driven only 3weeks a year.
5. So every person in Oklahoma waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept.

11. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup. Oh, yeah.... We don't care what you folks in Cincinnati call that stuff you eat... IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!!
12. You bring "coke" into my house, it better be brown,wet and served over ice.
13. You bring "Mary Jane" into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair.
14. College and High School Football is as important here as the Lakers and the Knicks, and more fun to watch.
15. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards -- it spooks the fish.
16.. Colleges? We have them all over. We have State Universities, Private Universities , Community Colleges,and Vo-techs. They come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at everybody when they come for the holidays.
17. We have a whole ton of folks in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. So don't mess with us. If you do, you'll get whipped by the best.
18. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump stuff ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers. Refer back to #1.
19. 2 inches of ice isn't a blizzard - it's a vacation. Drive like you got some sense in it, and DON'T take all our bread, milk, and bleach from the grocery stores. This ain't Alaska , worst case you may have to live a whole day without croissants. The pickups with snow blades will have you out the next day.

This is our new puppy dog Sadie. She's a stray we found one morning at the bus stop. Daddy dropped us off on his way to work and said that if she was there when after school we could get her. So after he left, me and a neighbor ran over to Neeney's old house and got some dog food, just to make sure she would stay! When I got off the bus that afternoon, I looked every where, even whistled some but....no dog. I was headed home when one of the neighbors stopped me and asked if we knew anyone that was missing a dog or anyone that wanted one. "Sure do!!" He said that he had stuck the dog in the kennel, but he was about to take it to the shelter. So...

She looks like nearly a full blood beagle (which is what we wanted). She's very laid back and very very sweet, but she needs to be fixed (she looks like she's had a couple litters) and she has what looks like a little bit of mange on her hips, but we're working on her.

I guess I've been readin' a little...

Reality TV arrives in rural Misty Creek, Kentucky when a ballroom dancing contest is planned. However, most of the contestants signing on take the contest seriously, but the show's sponsors are lampooning the locals as redneck hillbillies who would not know what a ballroom looked like let alone be able to perform one the dances.
Local waitress Abby Harper was going to pass as she had no doubt that she and any other "yokel" was meant to be ridiculed. Let me introduce you to the newest little guy...Zipper.

Zipper is about 3 or 4 days old now. He's still just a little guy. His umbilical cord is still attached, his eyes and ears are still closed, and he's only about 4 inches long. His story is kinda long and confusing and we don't really know how it all goes together. Mom took Skylar to the vet to get her pills down her and this lady was there, upset that the vet wouldn't take it. Of course my sweet mommy felt bad and said that I could raise it. So...back to late night feedings and little sleep!

~ By the way, the box came with the kitty. Just clarifyin'.

Sheep Shearin' Time

Today was sheep shearin' day at our place. We woke up at 6:30 so that we could get most of it done before it got too hot. These pictures are of my sheep; Sara Evans.

First we had to wash them and get all the dirt and poo out of their wool. Take a look at her back end. She looked like that all over.

Now look at her!! She's all nice and fuzzy. And CLEAN!!

Sara getting dried off. The lady behind her is our "Livestock Leader" Debbie. She is also the one that helps take care of Neeney.

Finally we could shear. Look how thick her wool was!

Now they will be a lot cooler and easier to work with. They look nicer too! Anybody else wanna haircut?!

Why can't I keep kittens? Black cats = Bad luck. I believe it now. As of yesterday, no more Shiloh. :( We left the garage door open (oops), and within 30 minutes, she was gone! That little kitty can scoot! Or else...

In probably the last month or so,

My little dog Shanna got ran over.
My cat Tiger got sick.
Boots ran away.
Tiger disapeared.
We discovered fleas. In our carpet.
We lost 2 chickens. ( Although that is to be expected.)
Shiloh left.
Anything I forgot?! (Okay Andrea, so maybe we ARE going through the animals.)
*Update: My gerbil died too.

My New Babies

I've been wanting a new baby kitty since Boots is gone (even though Shanna was the one that got her for me in the first place), so we went down to the neighbor's place to check out her selection. Now let me tell you, this lady has the cats. When you pull into the drive way, cats scatter every direction. She probably has 25 cats (not counting the kittens) just outside. Then when you get inside, there's a still a few more. So if you want a cat, she can DEFINITELY put you in the Feline Business. Anyways, I wanted this little kitten that could be bottle fed, but momma felt sorry for it I guess, because we came home with 2 kittens. I think they are both girls but sometimes it takes them a while to figure out what they wanna be!! Sorry but the pictures are a bit blurry.

Skylar is probably about 4 weeks old and is still on a bottle. She is um, a very uniquely colored kitty. But very cute. She is very curious and can't sit still for very long. If she does park it, she's asleep like that.

Shiloh is about 6 weeks old and almost like Boots except for the "streak" of white on her face. She is a cuddle bug and a chatterbox. She LOVES to talk. Just like me!! She's pretty fluffy, so we might have a long haired on our hands.

So now I have 2 babies to spoil!

I can't believe that I've gone all month with out posting even a hello! Hi everybody! I guess there's been plenty I could've posted, just didn't do it. So here we go:

We went down to Bradley and set a few lines on the river. (While Olivea and Connor were still in Missouri!) Spent the night down there and caught a 2 (big) fishies.
We went to our Hesson Reunion... which was a blast! Our cabin/shack was right on the river giving us a nice view and tons of fun. I think the best part was watch people put in and tip right there below us. VERY entertaining! Here's a few pics that didn't make it onto Andrea's blog.

Daddy laid the kitchen floor today! He's almost done with it except for a few transition pieces, the trim, ...just some little things. It's starting to look good! Here 'tis!

Sad news....Again

Thursday morning, when I went to feed the animals in the "barnyard", I noticed feathers EVERYWHERE around the chicken coop. When I opened it up, there was one chicken was just sitting in the corner and she was definitely missing a few feathers. Her leg was also twisted in an unnatural way. Her leg was broke (duh) and so too make a long story short, we now have only 11 chickens. When we went out to round up the rest, we found another one that had a sore on its leg. It doesn't look broke, so we are going to see if we can give it some TLC (yeah right) and save it.

The stupid birds sleep outside in the pen and we think a coon or some other pest tried to get to them through the wires. If Shanna was here, she wouldn't have let whatever it was get very far! Daddy is going to try to set a trap to take care of it.

We got back from Missouri late Wednesday night with two less kids! It feels sorta weird but it's kinda fun. For a week I have my own room! Last night Kennen and I decided to make supper (in the new kitchen!). I think this is the first meal that has actually been cooked in 2 months. We made spaghetti and meatballs. It was delicious if I do say so myself! Boots thought so too. She kept jumping up on daddy's lap trying to get fed.

Now I have something to update on! (All at once here!)

The doors are FINALLY on the cabinets. There's still a few flaws with them, but that can be worked around.

The kitchen floor came in today. This picture is not exactly the true color...I think it looks a little more gray than green.

This is what the hallway flooring will look like.

The microwave also arrived today. I think it's going to be installed tomorrow some time. My question is how are we going to get the big ol' honker above the stove?!

The countertops have been ordered, but I'm not sure when they're going to get here. Soon I hope. The color is just a little darker then it looks here.

That's all so far. Don't think I can handle much more change!

One of our chickens died today (Sob). Don't really know why. We think it was a rooster though so I doubt he'll be missed! Although grilled chicken does sound good! Down to a dozen!

Yep that's right. When they move, she moves.

When the sheep even get close to them, she growls. (There's a chicken sitting in the barn if you look really close.) You know that she just doesn't wanna share. But she knows what's hers and what's not I guess.

Look at how big the feet on this thing are! He's one of our 4 (?) roosters. Amazing how fast these fella's are growing!

Here's some more....

This one is just a random arrangement that our teacher set up and said "Draw it." We had to use white charcoal which is just a bit hard!

This one was done with pastels which are pretty much super messy crayons. We were each given a small piece of a picture which we glued to our paper and were told to "use our imaginations" to continue the pattern to fill the entire page. This is how mine turned out...

Each line that forms the letters is going to a dot on either the left, right, top, or bottom of the paper (vanishing points). I used colored pencils on it.

These are two of my art projects from last year. They are both acrylic paintings. Thought I would share them.

This one is one we did after studying a certain artist (don't even remember who it was). I think she painted mainly cattle skulls and flowers, so that's how that one came about.

I thought this one was kinda fun. It was something a little (a lot) smaller and it wasn't such a serious subject. Our teacher called it Camouflage. She also counted this as our semester test/final. Eeek!

Worm Factory?

The other day, Collin and I were picking blackberries out in the woods, and we kept seeing a lot of worms crawling around. I said to Collin, "Man, where did all these worms come from?". He replied, very seriously, "From Texas. That's where they make 'em. They drop them from airplanes, that's why they ain't in the ground yet." Well then.....If anyone needs some worms around their place, you might check with Texas Worms Inc. and see if you can get a delivery.

Sirens and Sore Spots

I am supposed to be on vacation, but yet, I don't seem to be having much fun. No offence Ben and Esther, but sitting in the the hallway on a hard wood floor with a VERY nervous sister, a sleeping baby, a SNORING aunt and listening to tornado sirens is not exactly my idea of a relaxing vacation. I kinda doubt anything is major is happening but, ya know. My bum hurts VERY badly right now. And its 1:00am. 10 more minutes till the watch expires! Hope everyone else is all good.

Oh yeah, our kitchen cabinets were installed this weekend. Hopeful I live to see them! We'll be back to Oklahoma sometime Wednesday, hopeful early enough that we can clean the house for mtg!

Meet Boots...

Purty darn cute eh?! We've had her since she was about 3 weeks old. We think she's close to 6 weeks now. No more midnight feedings! Yeehaw!! She's starting to sleep through the night, letting me sleep in till 7:00. Every once in a while, I'll get lucky when she doesn't wake up until 7:30! We are also ASSUMING that she is a girl....she seems to be going through a sex change! Hmmmm......Either way, I still love her/him!

I think we all had a pretty good time yesterday at Kimi and Carrie's. Water balloons, volleyball, bocce ball, homeade ice cream...there was something for everyone! Here are a few of the pics.

New Arrivals On The Farm!

5 more days of school left! (Just had to let you know!)
It's been a while since I've been on, but it's also been very busy here. We are having our kitchen remodeled (I am SO ready for a home cooked meal!) and our eggs started hatching on Monday. So far, 15 out of 30 have hatched. One died yesterday which leaves us with 14. (Duh!) One of them has a club foot (?); it's toes are curled making it a little difficult to walk, but it's doing fine.
Also, last week our dog brought up a little kitten. She is black with a white chest and white "boots". Therefore, her name is.....Boots! She is about 4 weeks old now, so she is about to be off of the bottle. I'll be pretty happy when that time comes: no more late night feedings! Thanks to Papa Mike and Grandma Carol, she has a new "bed"(cage!) and litter box. Its nice to go to sleep knowing she won't get out at night!
I guess that's all for now. I will post pictures of both the chicks and Boots later.

I FINALLY can get on this thing! I think I was spammed out of my own blog, if that's possible. A lot has happened since I got on here last, so I will just hit some highlights (and not so highlights!)

School will be out in less than a month...YES!
I had to get rid of Toby Keith. He got the wool fungus too.
Turkey season started already...I have not been successful...yet!
I finished cleaning out the barn.
We got chicken eggs. It's turning into a real farm out here.
We got our new show lambs for 08/09. A ewe named Sarah (Evans)-mine, and a ram named Rory-Olivea's.
Sarah has a few minor problems: snotty nose, wart on her nose, and a major problem...she also has the wool fungus. Here we go again.
EOI's (End of Instruction tests) are over. We've already started turning in our testbooks.
Morel mushrooms are up! So so yummy!
Rory is in the process of being de-rammed. I will not go into details.
Bonus auction money is almost here!!
